You can jump in, ease in, or just sit on the edge and cool off your feet.

However, wood does have a tendency to fade with UV light exposure over time. And if you don’t maintain your deck, it could rot, warp or splinter. Wood can also grow mold due to all the moisture.
Composite
This is made from a blend of recycled wood and it lasts longer. Plus, it resists fading, splintering, and mold growth. You can buy it pre-stained and oiled, while still enjoying the traditional wood-grain pattern.

Your above ground pool deck will need protection from use, chemicals and the weather.
Seal the Deck
If you don’t want your deck to end up looking gray and dingy, you will need to seal it regularly to avoid moisture penetration. Choose one with UV protection.
Use the Right Paint
Use the proper outdoor paint for your deck so it can withstand the abuse of UV rays and rain.
Clean It
Your deck will get splashed with chlorinated water on a regular basis, which can degrade the deck over time. Add in dirt, pollen, dead insects, grass, and drink spills during a barbecue, and you realize how important it is to regularly clean your deck. Spray it down with a garden hose, or use a power washer on a gentle setting to remove ground in dirt or grease.
